FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Marietta College men's soccer team wrapped up its weekend with a 2-0 loss to host Methodist University Sunday (Sept. 19) afternoon. [

The Pioneers (0-4-3) once again spent the majority of the day on defense against the Monarchs (4-4). Methodist out shot Marietta 20-11 overall and finished with a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.
The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead when Eric McGinnis scored off his own rebound in the 19th minute. Clayton Newton added an insurance goal in the 50th minute when he beat a defender and scored on a shot inside the near post.

Chris Stollar (Marietta/Marietta) finished with eight saves, while junior midfielder
Dustin Zimmerman (Hebron/Granville Christian Academy) had three shots and both senior defender
Ryan Wong (Granville/Granville) and sophomore forward
Brandon Siringer (Willowick/Eastlake North) had two shots in the loss.
Marietta remains on the road Tuesday (Sept. 21) afternoon when it visits the College of Wooster for a non-conference match-up at 4:30 p.m.
