GREENCASTLE, Ind. — Marietta College volleyball dropped both of its matches Friday (Sept. 17) evening at the
DePauw University Invitational. The Pioneers opened the day with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-8) loss to #13 Carthage College and then fell 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19) to the host Tigers.
Junior right side hitter
Meredith Storey (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) led the offense with three kills, while sophomore setter
Ally Jenkins (Twinsburg/Walsh Jesuit) had seven assists against Carthage. Sophomore libero
Jen Braun (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) added six digs and two service aces, while junior outside hitter
Alex Weissling (Dublin/Dublin Scioto) contributed one block in the loss.
Weissling finished with a team-best six kills, while Storey had five kills against DePauw. Jenkins dished out 20 assists, while freshman middle blocker Kathryn Hanssen added two service aces. Defensively, Braun collected eight digs, and junior outside hitter
Liz Robbe (Crystal Falls, Mich./Forest Park) had five digs and two blocks.
Marietta (5-7) returns to action Saturday (Sept. 18) morning when it takes on Susquehanna at 10 a.m. The Pioneers will then play a fourth match later in the day against a team yet to be determined.
