Whitney Swain (Belpre, Warren Local) capped her career with a team-high 12 points in the Pioneers' 75-51 loss to Wilmington College Saturday (Feb. 20) afternoon at Ban Johnson Arena. Swain was honored for her commitment to the program before the game, which was the last of the season for Marietta. The Pioneers ended the year 3-22 overall and 1-17 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Quakers improved to 15-10, 11-7 in the OAC. [

In addition to scoring a team-high 12 points, Swain also led the Pioneers with six rebounds and a game-high four steals. Sophomore
Rachel Jones (Dublin, Coffman) added nine points, while freshman
Catie Wolfe (Pomeroy, Meigs) and sophomore
Lizz Wilson (Ashtabula, Edgewood) chipped in with seven points each in the game.
Kortney Kin paced Wilmington with a game-high 17 points. Shelby Kies added 10 points off the bench for the Quakers, who led 35-13 at intermission.
The Pioneers finished the game shooting 18-of-61 (29.5%) from the field, 7-of-22 (31.8%) from behind the arc and 8-of-12 (66.7%) from the free throw line. Wilmington shot 27-of-60 (45%) from the field, 9-of-16 (56.3%) from three and 12-of-18 (66.7%) from the free throw line. The Quakers out rebounded Marietta 52-28. The Pioneers committed 13 turnovers to the Quakers 21. The Quakes outscored the Pioneers 32-8 in the paint.
