Sophomore standout
Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem/Monroe Central) paced Marietta (5-6) with 13 points to go along with five steals and was one of three Pioneers to pull down seven boards.
Junior
Lizz Wilson (Ashtabula/Edgewood) and sophomore Kristeva Rowe both matched Guiler with seven rebounds, while senior
Mallory Hoff (Newport/Frontier) finished with a team-best nine.
Junior
Rachel Jones (Dublin/Coffman) added 11 points, while freshman
Tori Dixon (Londonderry/Vinton County) had nine points and five assists and sophomore #Brittany Metcalf contributed eight points.
Paige Logan led Cal Tech (0-10) with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Erin Hoops had 10 points, while Sarah Wright came off the bench to score nine points.
Marietta, who shot 37.9% (25-of-66) overall and finished with a 50-37 edge on the boards, never trailed and start the game with a 13-2 run over the first five minutes. The Beavers, who shot 29.8% (14-of-47), trimmed the lead back down to three points, 13-10, with an 8-0 run, but the Pioneers dominated the rest of the half and entered the locker room on top 31-14.
Marietta' advantage grew steadily throughout the final 20 minutes and the game ended with the Pioneers holding their biggest lead of the game, 34 points.
Marietta returns to Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday (Jan. 5) when the Pioneers welcome the University of Mount Union to Ban Johnson Arena for a tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
