HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — A pair of former Marietta College student-athletes were selected by the
Northern Kentucky River Monsters during the inaugural draft of the
Ultimate Indoor Football League, which took place on Oct. 30.
George Frisch (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area), the River Monsters' second round pick, earned All-OAC second team and All-Ohio third team honors as a senior offensive lineman with the Pioneers in 2009. The three-year lettermen, who played from 2006-09, is a native of Glenshaw, Pa.
Jon D'Angelo, who was drafted as a quarterback in the third round, played was a member of Marietta's program from 2006-07. The former linebacker earned a varsity letter as a sophomore after finishing fifth on the squad with 59 stops, including five and one-half tackles for loss and four sack. D'Angelo is a native of Midland, Pa.
Northern Kentucky opens the 2011 season against host Canton on Feb. 25.
