MARIETTA, Ohio —
Gene Epley, Marietta College's head football coach from 1991-2002, passed away Sunday (Nov. 21) morning following a bout with cancer. He was 67.
Epley, the 1995 Ohio Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, ranks second on the Pioneers' all-time win list, having earned 45 wins in 12 seasons. Epley coached 74 All-OAC student-athletes, 11 All-Region performers, six All-Americans, 28 Academic All-OAC recipients and two Academic All-Americans.
The funeral will take place Saturday (Nov. 27) at 1 p.m. at Marietta's St. Luke's Church on the corner of Fourth and Scammel.
