The Purple Raiders, who improved to 7-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the OAC, scored all three of their goals in the first 28 minutes against the Pioneers, who fell to 0-10-3, 0-3 OAC.
Joey Merlo gave Mount Union a 1-0 advantage in the 20th minute following an assist from Kevin Cindric. Kevin Kowalewski increased the lead to 2-0 when he scored off his own rebound in the 27th minute. Merlo then capped the scoring in the 28th minute when he converted a penalty kick.
Marietta was out shot 18-7 overall and trailed 8-3 in shots on goal. Freshman #

The Pioneers will return to action Wednesday (Oct. 13) afternoon when they visit Muskingum University for an OAC match-up at 4 p.m.
