John Carroll (4-6-2, 1-1 OAC) took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when a deflected ball found the foot of Betsy Haigh, who calmly fired a shot inside the near post from 10 yards out for her second goal of the season.
The Pioneers (2-8-2, 0-1-1 OAC) tied the game in the 26th minute. Junior forward
Christina Tirpak (Galena/Olentangy) hit a shot from 35 yards over the keeper and off the cross bar. Junior midfielder
Danielle Staub (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) headed the rebound into the open goal from three yards out for her second goal of the year.
Haigh regained the advantage for the Blue Streaks for good in the 62nd minute when she received a pass from Collen Harmon and bent a shot around a charging keeper and into the back of the net from 20 yards out.
Harmon joined the scoring in the 73rd minute when she received a pass with her back to the goal 25 yards away, turned and fired a shot past the keeper for her first goal of the season. Rachel Grdina assisted on the play.
John Carroll's extended its lead to 4-1 in the 76th minute. Harmon sent a ball over the keeper's head that was headed into the back of the net by Amanda Buxton.
The Blue Streaks finished with a 26-13 advantage in shots and led 11-4 in shots on goal.
Four different Pioneers had a pair of shots, while freshman
Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange) made seven saves in the loss.
