ADA, Ohio — The 2010 Marietta College women's soccer team had its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss at Ohio Northern University Friday (Oct. 29) afternoon. [Box Score]

With the victory, the Polar Bears (12-5-1, 7-1-1 OAC) secured the second seed in next week's Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament. The Pioneers finished the year 2-14-3 overall and 0-7-2 in the OAC.

For the tenth time this season and the fifth OAC game, Marietta's defense held the opposition off the scoreboard for the first 45 minutes.

Ohio Northern, who finished with a 23-2 edge in total shots and a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal, broke the scoreless tie with goals in the 54th and 70th minutes.

The Pioneers' two leading scorers, junior #Christina Tirpak (Galena/Olentangy)#, who finished the season with a team-best eight points, and #Danielle Staub (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional)#, who added seven points, both had shots on goal in the loss.

Freshman #Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange)# made five saves against Ohio Northern to bring her final tally to 84 saves in 2010.
