MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College rallied from two sets down to push visiting Capital University to a fifth set, but the Crusaders prevailed 3-2 (25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 22-25, 16-14) in Ohio Athletic Conference volleyball action on Dig Pink Night Tuesday (Oct. 26) at Ban Johnson Arena. [Box Score]

The Pioneers (8-19, 1-7 OAC) and the Crusaders (14-8, 3-5 OAC) teamed up for a second straight year to produce a five-set Dig Pink thriller. This year, the schools combined to register 175 digs during the evening.

Junior right side hitter #Meredith Storey (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls)# finished with a match-best and season-high 18 kills, freshman middle blocker #Paige DeVriendt (Bowling Green/Bowling Green)# added a career-best 16 kills and freshman middle blocker #Kathryn Hanssen# contributed 13 kills. Sophomore setter #Ally Jenkins (Twinsburg/Walsh Jesuit)# produced a season-best 50 assists in the match.

Sophomore libero #Jen Braun (Chagrin Falls/Kenston)# continued to pile up the digs, recording 32 against Capital to give her 488 on the season. She also had a match-high three service aces. Jenkins and sophomore outside hitter #Alex VanGundy (Powell/Olentangy Liberty)# both added to the defense with 12 digs. Marietta's defense was also helped by nine total blocks, including four block assists from DeVriendt.

Marietta returns to Fenton Court Wednesday (Oct. 27) evening when it welcomes Ohio Valley University for a non-conference match on Senior Night at 7 p.m.
