MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College men's soccer celebrated Senior Day by battling first place and visiting Heidelberg University to a scoreless draw in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday (Oct. 23) afternoon at Marietta Field. [Box Score]

The young Pioneers improved their record to 1-12-4, 1-5-1 in league play. The Student Princes, who fell into second place, moved to 11-3-2, 5-0-2 in the OAC.

Before the game, Marietta honored seniors #Ben Dickerson (Tiffin/Tiffin Columbian)#, #Will Jaques (South Yarmouth, Mass./Chatham)#, #Ryan Wong (Granville/Granville)# and #Nathan Zarnoski (Fairview Park/Fairview)# for their dedication to the program for the last four years.

Heidelberg tested Marietta's defense early and often, firing 11 of its 23 shots in the first half. However, freshman keeper #Chris Stollar (Marietta/Marietta)# and the back line, which included Wong, junior #Trenton Tunnell (Parkersburg, W.Va./South)#, sophomore #Ben Federici (Findlay/Findlay)# and freshman #Lucas Eick (Hartville/Marlington)#, withstood every attack and entered intermission locked at 0-0.

Play was much more even for the final 65 minutes and both teams had good opportunities to light up the scoreboard but did not come through and the game ended in a draw.

Stollar, who posted his second straight shutout, faced 23 shots and made 10 saves, while Heidelberg's Ryan Smith saw 13 shots and had five saves.

Marietta is back in action Wednesday (Oct. 27) afternoon when the Pioneers play their final home game of the season against Capital University. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
