MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team was not able to stay with visiting Baldwin Wallace College in a 73-46 loss Saturday (Jan. 30) afternoon at Fenton Court. The loss dropped the Pioneers' record to 3-16 overall and 1-11 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The Yellow Jackets improved to 15-4 overall and 11-1 in the OAC. [

The Pioneers held strong early against the OAC's first place team. The lead changed on seven occasions during the first half. Marietta led by four points, 13-9, midway through the period, while Baldwin-Wallace held a seven-point advantage, 24-17, with 2:18 to play in the half and entered intermission ahead 24-19.
A steady Baldwin-Wallace attack slowly wore down Marietta in the second half. The Yellow Jackets were able to break away by converting 20-of-25 of its free throws in the final period en route to the 73-46 victory.

Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem, Monroe Central) with a game-high 14 points and five rebounds. Junior post
Mallory Hoff (New Metamoras, Frontier) collected a game-high eight rebounds while chipping in with six points.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Ariel Brough with 13 points and a seven rebounds. Nancy Coulter added 10 points and four rebounds in the win.
The Pioneers finished the game 17-of-50 (34.0%) from the field, 2-of-9 (22.2%) from three and 10-of-18 (55.6%) from the free throw line. Baldwin-Wallace finished the day shooting 24-of-54 (44.4%) from the field, 1-of-4 (25.0%) from three and 24-of-35 (68.6%) from the charity stripe. The Yellow Jackets out rebounded the Pioneers 42-26 and committed 17 turnovers to Marietta's 23.
Marietta is back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 3) night when the Pioneers visit Capital University. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
