UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team suffered a 102-66 defeat to host John Carroll University Saturday (Jan. 23) afternoon at the DeCarlo Varsity Center. With the loss, the Pioneers fell to 3-14 overall and 1-9 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The Blue Streaks improved to 9-7, 6-4 in league play. [

Chelsea Doutt (Cambridge, Buckeye Trail) contributed a career-best 8 points in the loss.
Three John Carroll starters eclipsed 20 points in the win. Lee Jennings finished with 23 points, while Whitney Hamilton and Caitlin Sureck both had 20 points. Katie Knox led the way with 11 boards, while Sureck had 9 as the Blue Streaks out rebounded the Pioneers 49-27.
John Carroll, who led 56-31 at the half, shot 54.4% (43-of-79) from the field, hitting 43.8% (7-of-16) from beyond the arc. Marietta hit 23-of-57 (40.4%) overall but just 1-of-10 (10.0%) from long range. The Blue Streaks dominated the paint, out scoring the Pioneers 42-24 down low.
Marietta is back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 27) night when the Pioneers visit Mount Union College for a tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
