Wooster (2-0-1) dominated the possession and out shot Marietta (2-1) 26-2 overall and 12-1 in shots on goal.
The Pioneers' defense, however, kept them off the scoreboard until the 81st minute. A hand ball in the box gave Wooster a penalty kick. Tournament MVP Chantal Koechli converted the kick into the game-winning goal.
Koechli had three teammates join her on the All-Tournament Team—Kelcey Peters, Bri Fulmer and Liz Mott. Marietta's representatives were senior goalkeeper Jenna Freeman (Bay Village, Bay), who made 12 saves against Wooster, as well as sophomore midfielders Cara Nuss (Dayton, Carroll) and Tessa Harlow (Whitehouse, Anthony Wayne).
Earlier in the day, Bluffton captured the consolation game with a 1-0 double overtime victory over St. Vincent. Elsie Coker and Maddie Moore made the All-Tournament Team for the Beavers, while Logan Gamelier and Alex Shasko represented the Bearcats.
Marietta is back in action on Friday (Sept. 11) afternoon when they take on visiting Mount St. Joseph at 3 p.m.
