Marietta (3-4) was out shot 16-8 overall by Washington & Jefferson (3-4-1) but held an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal in the victory.

Patrick Holguin's squad made the most of its first shot of the afternoon as sophomore
Corryn Muench (Cold Spring, Ky., Newport Central Catholic) executed a set play on a Pioneer corner kick for a goal to give her team the 1-0 advantage in the 20th minute. Classmate
Cara Nuss (Dayton, Carroll) was on the front end of the corner kick and found Muench open in the box, who headed the ball past the keeper for her first score of the year.
The Pioneers' lead grew to 2-0 in the 32nd minute when Muench carried the ball into the 18-yard box and crossed the ball over a charging keeper. Sophomore
Chelsea Hennen (Wheeling, W.Va., The Linsly School) received the pass at the middle of the 6-yard box and headed it into the far side of the goal for the score, her second of the season.
With both of Marietta's goalkeepers out with injury, sophomore defender
Jennifer Wilder (Ashland, Ashland) handled the duties between the posts and earned her first career shutout. Wilder made six saves in the game. Stephanie Saussol also had six saves for the Presidents.
The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday (Sept. 30) afternoon when they visiting Bethany College for a kickoff at 4:30 p.m.
