Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem, Monroe Central) registered her third straight double-double and second 25-point scoring effort of the season, but Mount Union College ran past the Marietta College women's basketball team 87-69 Wednesday (Dec. 2) night in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action at Ban Johnson Arena. WIth the win, the Purple Raiders improved to 5-0, 1-0 in the OAC. The Pioneers fell to 2-3, 0-1 in league play. [

Guiler, who added a game-best 13 rebounds, continued to be Marietta's primary option offensively as she finished 8-of-16 from the field and 9-of-9 from the free throw line. Sophomore
Rachel Jones (Dublin, Coffman) added 15 points and 5 steals, while freshman
Kodi Brenner (Brookfield, Brookfield) contributed 13 points in the game. Tessa Pohovey paced Mount Union with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Amanda Rose added a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 10 boards, while Taylor Hartung finished with 10 points off the bench.
Mount Union's pressure gave Marietta fits from the start and turned 24 Marietta turnovers into 27 points while scoring 50 of its 87 points inside the paint. The Pioneers finished the game 24-of-64 (37.5%) from the field, 7-of-18 (38.9%) from long range and 14-of-17 (82.4%) from the free throw line. The Purple Raiders hot 35-of-69 (50.7%) overall, including 5-of-15 (33.3%) from beyond the arc. Mount Union, who out-rebounded Marietta 47-32, also hit 12-of-22 (54.5%) from the line in the win.
The Purple Raiders forced 15 first-half turnovers and shot 51.3% from the floor to help them take a commanding 47-25 advantage into intermission. Mount Union's lead grew to as many as 28 points in the second half, and Marietta never got closer that 15 points the rest of the way.
