Brian Crader (Thornville, Sheridan) scored a career-best and game-high 17 points, but #11 John Carroll University shots its way past the Marietta College men's basketball team 96-57 Saturday (Dec. 19) afternoon. [

The Pioneers (3-6, 1-4 OAC) had two players finish in double figures and were keyed by Crader, who hit 6-of-14 from the floor and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Freshman
Scott Kimmey (Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Falls) added 11 points, also hitting three shots from long range. Sophomore
Zane Carter (Wellsville, Wellsville) came off the bench to contribute 9 points and a game-best 7 rebounds.
The Blue Streaks (7-2, 3-2 OAC) were led offensively by Rudy Kirbus with 17 points. Maurice Haynes finished with 15 points, Michael Hartnett had 12 points and Corey Shontz added 10 points in the win.
John Carroll out shot Marietta 55.2% (32-of-58) to 35.6% (21-of-59) from the field and 55.6% (15-of-27) to 30.4% (7-of-23) from three-point range. The Blue Streaks, who never trailed, out rebounded the Pioneers 43-32 in the win.
Marietta is back on the court Tuesday (Dec. 29) night when the Pioneers host the
39th annual Marietta Shrine Tournament at Ban Johnson Arena. Action begins when Ohio Wesleyan takes on Guilford at 5:30 p.m. Marietta then battles Grove City at 7:30 p.m.
