TIFFIN, Ohio — Host Heidelberg University rushed for a season-high 301 yards en route to a 42-14 victory over the Marietta College football team in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action Saturday (Nov. 7) afternoon. The meeting marked the first football game played on Heidelberg's campus in 64 years and the first ever at Mayer Field. [

The Student Princes (4-5, 3-5 OAC) racked up 469 yards of total offense against the Pioneers (3-6, 2-6 OAC), who finished with 264 yards of its own with 193 coming on the ground.
Marietta senior running back
Lamar Hunter (South Euclid, Brush), the OAC's leading rusher, collected his fifth 100-yard game of the season. Hunter ran 24 times for 158 yards and 1 touchdown.
A pair of Heidelberg runners also eclipsed 100 yards on the afternoon.
Jemar Lewis ran for a game-high 169 yards on 18 carries and scored 2 touchdowns, while
Kenny Sims ran 26 times for 103 yards and another score.
Pioneer sophomore
Andrew Keller (Cincinnati, Glen Este) finished 8-of-17 and threw for 71 yards, and sophomore wide receiver
Jahmaal Jones (Valrico, Fla., Bloomingdale) had 4 catches for 45 yards.
Heidelberg quarterback
Andrew Miller completed 9-of-15 passes, throwing for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception. A trio of receivers had 2 catches.
Mario Walton and
Mike Preston both had a touchdown reception in the win.
Marietta freshmen
George Grady (Willowick, Eastlake North) and
Rahkeem Caver (Hamilton, Hamilton) both finished with a game-high 11 total hits. Grady had the Pioneers' lone sack, while Caver also ended a Student Prince scoring opportunity with an interception in the end zone and also forced and recovered a fumble.
Justin Dawson and
Matt Grieves led Heidelberg with 8 total tackles each. Grieves added 1 sack and 4 tackles for loss in the win.
Heidelberg took the lead on its first possession with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Miller to Preston.
The Student Princes made it 14-0 later in the first frame when Miller hit Walton on a 40-yard touchdown strike.
A Pioneer fumble on the ensuing kickoff set up a third touchdown on the first play of the second quarter. Miller ran this one in from 5 yards out to give the Student Princes a 21-0 advantage.
Heidelberg extended its lead to 28-0 when Sims scored a 3-yard touchdown run with 10:15 to play in the half.
Marietta answered with a touchdown on its next possession. Keller ran it in from 7 yards to make the score 28-7 with 6:51 remaining in the first half.
The Student Princes added to their lead on their first drive of the third quarter when Lewis punched it in from 2 yards out to give his squad a 35-7 lead with 9:43 on the third-period clock.
Hunter scored his sixth rushing touchdown of the season near the end of the third period, finishing a drive off with a 2-yard score to cut Heidelberg's lead to 35-14.
The Student Princes capped the day's scoring on a 7-yard touchdown run by Lewis with 7:41 left to play in the game.
Marietta will close out its season on Saturday (Nov. 14) afternoon when the Pioneers visit top-ranked Mount Union College. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m.
