TIFFIN, Ohio — The Marietta College men's soccer team had its season come to en end following a 1-0 loss to host Heidelberg University in the first round of the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament at Mayer Field. [Box Score]

The fifth-seeded Pioneers end the year 6-13-1, while the fourth-seeded Student Princes improved to 10-7-2 and advanced to take on top-seeded Ohio Northern University Thursday (Nov. 5) afternoon.

Heidelberg out shot Marietta 17-7 overall and held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.

The game was scoreless until the 75th minute. Grant Beck lofted a cross into the box, which was deflected but not controlled by Marietta's keeper. Jon Kijowski took advantage with a diving header into the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winner.

Marietta picked up its aggressiveness over the final 15 minutes but could not finish any of its opportunities and fell 1-0.

Pioneer sophomore Andrew Shannon (Cincinnati, Mariemont) finished with 4 saves, while Ryan Smith had 3 for Heidelberg.
