Delè Adedapo (Gahanna, Bexley) led the Marietta College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over host Otterbein College Tuesday (Oct. 6) afternoon at Clements Field. [

The victory snapped a 7-game losing streak for the Pioneers, who improved to 3-8-1 overall and 1-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The Cardinals fell to 3-5-3 overall and 1-1 in the OAC.
It was a defensive match-up for most of Tuesday's meeting. The game remained scoreless until senior
Dan Cawley (Marietta, Marietta) was fouled inside the box and Marietta was awarded a penalty kick in the 81st minute. Adedapo converted the attempt with a shot inside bottom right corner of the goal to give Marietta the 1-0 advantage. The goal was his first of the season.
The Pioneers' defense held strong down the stretch to secure the 1-0 win and move to .500 in the league.
Otterbein finished with a 13-12 advantage in shots, but Marietta held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. The Cardinals finished with 6 corner kicks, while the Pioneers had 3.
Pioneer sophomore
Andrew Shannon (Cincinnati, Mariemont) made 4 saves in the win, while a pair of Cardinal keepers combined for six saves in a losing effort.
Marietta will look to build some momentum when the Pioneers play host to rival John Carroll University on Saturday (Oct. 10) afternoon. Kickoff with the Blue Streak at Marietta Field is slated for 2 p.m.
