With the loss, the Pioneers fell to 18-11 overall and 4-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Blue Streaks improved to 12-16 but also 4-5 in league play. Both teams will have to wait on the outcome of Saturday (Oct. 31) afternoon's OAC action to see what seeds they will receive in next week's OAC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday (Nov. 3).
Marietta, playing without two regular starters, was carried offensively by freshman outside hitter
Amanda Sawicki (Mentor, Lake Catholic), who finished with a school-record 32 kills on 75 attempts, which is also a school record.
Sophomore outside hitter
Alex Weissling (Dublin, Dublin Scioto) added 13 kills, while freshman middle blocker
Alexa Baudo (Mentor, Mayfield) had 7. Freshman setter
Ally Jenkins (Twinsburg, Walsh Jesuit) finished with 49 assists, while senior defensive specialist
Katy Williams (Richmond, Ind., Richmond) had 4 service aces in the loss.
