MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's soccer team had its season come to an end with a 2-1 loss to visiting Ohio Northern University Friday (Oct. 30) afternoon on Senior Day at Marietta Field. The Pioneers finished the year 5-11-1 overall and 2-7 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Polar Bears improved to 14-3-2, 8-1 in the OAC. [

All three goals came directly off set plays, two my Ohio Northern and the third by Marietta. The Polar Bears out shot the Pioneers 23-8 overall and held a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal
Ohio Northern jumped out to the early lead with a pair of headed goals from
Chelsea Albert within the first 8 minutes. The first score of the game came in the 4th minute when
Stacey Barnhart sent a ball into the box on a free kick from midfield. The pass was headed by Albert past the keeper for her fourth score of the fall.
Kaitlin Sanders set up the second goal with her corner kick, which again found the head of Albert, who redirected the ball past the keeper for the goal.
Marietta pulled within a goal, 2-1, in the 82nd minute. Again, it came on a set play following a foul just outside the box. Sophomore midfielder
Tessa Harlow (Whitehouse, Anthony Wayne) sent a free kick into the box from 18-yards out that was deflected by a Polar Bear defender to sophomore forward
Christina Tirpak (Galena, Olentangy). Tirpak fired it past the keeper for her second goal of the season.

Jenna Freeman (Bay Village, Bay) had 11 saves in the game, while
Kristen DeWees finished with 2 for Ohio Northern.
