Dustin Zimmerman (Hebron, Granville Christian Academy) scored the game-winning goal in the final minutes of double overtime to propel the Marietta College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at rival Muskingum University Wednesday (Oct. 14) afternoon. [

With the win, the Pioneers improved to 5-8-1 overall and 3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Fighting Muskies fell to 6-9 overall and 1-4 in league play.

Kyle Muth (Twinsburg, Twinsburg) started the final play by racing up the right side of the field. He passed the ball to senior midfielder
Deric McDonald (Vienna, W.Va., Parkersburg), who made his return after missing six of the last seven games with an injury. McDonald beat the last Muskingum defender before passing it off to Zimmerman, who drilled the ball into the back of the net for the victory in the 109th minute.
The Fighting Muskies out shot the Pioneers 16-18 overall in the game. Sophomore
Andrew Shannon (Cincinnati, Mariemont), the reigning OAC Player of the Week, pitched his third straight shutout by posting 5 shutouts.
Anthony Vaccaro had 4 saves in the loss.
Marietta is back in action on Saturday (Oct. 17) afternoon when the Pioneers playu host to Capital University in a men's and women's doubleheader at Marietta Field. The women's game is slated for 1 p.m. and the men's game will begin at 3 p.m.
