Neither the Pioneers (4-8-1, 2-1 OAC) nor the Blue Streaks (6-5-3, 0-2-1 OAC) could convert any of their scoring chances during regulation, as John Carroll out shot Marietta 17-14 overall.
Two minutes into overtime, however, Marietta sophomore
Michael Lomas (Grand Rapids, Mich., East Kentwood) sent a cross from the far side into the box. A Blue Streak defender tried to clear it out with a header but, instead, deflected the ball into his own net for the own goal, giving the Pioneers the dramatic 1-0 victory.

Mike Telzrow finished with 5 saves in a losing effort.
The Pioneers will look to continue to to build momentum in the OAC when they visit Muskingum University on Wednesday (Oct. 14) afternoon. Kickoff with the Fighting Muskies is slated for 4 p.m.
