MARIETTA — Otterbein's Kirk McDonald stymied Marietta's hitters as the Cardinals won 6-2 and claimed the Ohio Athletic Conference Southern Division title on Monday, May 16, at Pioneer Park.
McDonald didn't record a strikeout and walked six, but allowed only five hits and didn't give up an earned run for the complete-game win.
Otterbein jumped on Marietta starter Terry Muholland (12-1) in the first inning with three hits and two runs. The Cardinals added another run in the second and another in the third to take a 4-1 lead.
John Mastel added a two-run home run in the sixth as Otterbein led 6-1.
Marietta's Jim Pancher went 2-for-4, while Jeff Chaney had a single in the sixth that scored Marty Sberna.
