PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Valparaiso pitcher Craig Jones stifled Marietta's tough lineup as the Beacons pulled out a 2-0 win on Friday, March 11.
Jones allowed just four hits, while striking out two and walking two. Marietta's Jon Shuler went 2-for-3, while Jim Pancher and Steve Riley had one hit apiece.
Marietta's pitching was also strong as Mark Talarico allowed two hits and one run over four innings, and Riley allowed a run and a hit over two innings.
Valpo's Kurt Geese had a triple, and Scott Carter had an RBI.
Marietta drops to 11-3 on the season.
