Morris, a native of Marietta, was a  three-year letterwinner on the men’s varsity crew at Marietta College, and was named captain of the 1968 team.

As a freshman, Morris rowed in the seven seat on the 1966 varsity crew which went undefeated and won the Dad Vail Championships. In 1967, he again rowed in the seven seat on the team that captured the Dad Vail Championships for the second year in a row. The 1967 team also went on to row at the Ratzeburg Germany Regatta and the Henley on Thames Royal Regatta.


While at
Marietta, Morris was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Mu Epsilon. After graduating from Marietta, Morris went on to receive degrees from the California Institute of Technology and the Harvard Business School. While at Harvard, he was on the club crew. Morris became the head women’s crew coach at Marietta College in 1989, and he coached the women’s lightweight four to Marietta’s first gold medal at the Dad Vail Championships.

Morris is now an investor and fund manager, and he is the founder and owner of Morningside Ventures in
Marietta. He also serves on the Athletic Founder’s Board and the Marietta College Board of Trustees as an Alumni Trustee.

Morris and his wife, Melissa, have four children, Hannah, Terrence, Matthew, and Emma.
