Ron Weekley, '55. The second member of Coach Bill Whetsell's 'Firehouse Five" (Mark "Buzzy" Davis was the first in 1984) to be inducted into the Marietta College Athletic Hall of Fame, Ron is generally regarded as one of the school's all-time great basketball players. He played four seasons, lettering each year. He is twelfth on the college's all time scoring list with 1,156 career points. He is on Don Drumm's list as one of the college's athletic greats. The "Firehouse Five" on which he starred won back-to-back Ohio Athletic Conference titles in 1953-1954 and 1954-1955. The quintet won 24 consecutive conference games. Ron was picked for honorable mention on the Associated Press's 1954-1955 All- OAC team.
In addition to basketball, he participated in two other sports. He played on the college baseball team for three years and was a member of the golf team one year. Currently, Ron is senior staff engineer for Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, California.
