Beck, a three sport letterman, graduated in 1937, earning six varsity letters.  During his senior year, he helped the football Pioneers capture first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference.  For his efforts Ray was named to the All-Ohio Conference Football Team and the All-Ohio Football Team.  He was also the captain of the 1937 MC baseball team.  After graduation, he played semi-pro baseball and basketball for a few years.

Ray when on to become Athletic Director and an assistant football coach while teaching at Tiltonsville (Ohio) High School.  In 1940, Ray began working for the FBI as a cryptographer and went on to become a Special Agent Firearms Instructor.  Following his retirement from the FBI, he was the director of campus security at the University of New Orleans and also served as the Administrator Assistant to the Jefferson Parish President until his retirement in 1987.

Married with two sons, Ray and his wife, Essie, reside in Slidell, Louisiana.
