Gillard, a native of Marietta, excelled in both volleyball and basketball during her four years at Marietta College, earning four varsity letters in both sports.

Volleyball was Gillard’s main sport, and she proved it as she became the first Marietta College player to get 1,000 career kills. She ended her career at MC with 1,178 kills. Gillard was a two-time first team All-OAC selection, first team Academic All-OAC selection, first team All-Midwest Region selection and first team District IV GTE Academic All-American in her junior and senior years.

On the basketball court, Gillard was one of the team’s leading rebounders. Gillard was named the Pioneers’ most improved player as a freshman, and as a senior she was named team captain and also earned first team Academic All-OAC honors.

For her athletic accomplishments, Gillard was awarded the Betty Cleland award and was also MC’s Clyde A. Lamb Scholar Athlete nominee. After graduating from MC, Gillard chose to reside in Marietta and is now an industrial engineer/office manager at Gillard Construction, Inc.?
