Turecki, who is deceased, amassed seven varsity letters in baseball and football. He made the All-OAC first team in baseball in his junior and senior seasons.
At the time of his graduation in 1965 he held four single season OAC records and one single game OAC record. In 1964 he led the team in batting with a .319 average and the conference in runs batted in with 18. The records he attained in 1965 were at bats (101), runs scored (35) hits (39) and home runs (7). He also batted .386 in 1965 to lead the team.
Turecki became Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy from 1996-1973. He was the recipient of six citations for meritorious service in Vietnam. He was also a Senior Flight Instructor at the Pensacola Naval Sir Station.
