Jason Vrable earned four varsity letters in football during one of the most successful periods in Pioneer gridiron history. Twice named the Pioneers’ team and offensive Most Valuable Player, Vrable served as a team captain his junior and senior seasons.

The most prolific passer in program history, Vrable capped his career by setting school single season records for pass attempts (375), completions (202), passing yards (2845) and touchdown passes (20). He was named second team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and honorable mention All-Region.

By the end of his playing career in the Navy Blue and White Vrable owned Marietta’s all-time records for passes attempted (902), completions (495), passing yards (6102) and touchdown passes (41).

Vrable was selected to participate in the All-American All-Star Bowl in 2006. He earned National Player of the Week honors three times and finished fourth in the nation in total offense as a senior.

A standout in the classroom as well as on the football field, Vrable was a two-time Academic All-OAC selection and earned Academic All-District honors as well. A Dean’s List student, Vrable graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine in 2007. He completed a master’s degree in Sports Management from Robert Morris University in 2009.

Since finishing his playing career, Vrable has served as an assistant football coach at several colleges, including Marietta, as well as with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets of the NFL. He coached Pro Bowl players Tyrod Taylor in 2015 and Lesean McCoy in 2016.

Vrable and his wife Jill have one son, Drake.
