Katschke, of Aurora, Colo., says he could not have asked for anything more out of his college playing career. Two national championships, two national runner-up trophies and three-time All-American.

"I had four tremendous years at
Marietta College," said Katschke, who was the OAC Player of the Year in 1986. "I tell my wife I'd like to go back for a few years if I could."

The Pioneers would like to have him back. Katschke holds the NCAA Division III record for victories with 47. For his career, Jim had a record of 47-7, 309 strikeouts in 374.6 innings, all are MC records. His best season was 1985 when he recorded 17 victories.

"I think the biggest moment was winning the national championship my senior year," he said. "Playing in the last possible game of the season meant we didn't cut it short. We made that season and our careers last as long as it possibly could."

Katschke played with the Texas Rangers' minor league team in the Gulf Coast League in 1986. Now he is a sales representative for the Neff Company. He lives in
Aurora with his wife, Cheryl.
