Magee (Deceased), was a three sport athlete at Marietta College earning nine varsity letters. A 1938 graduate, he lettered three years in football, basketball and baseball. During his career at MC, Magee participated on Ohio Athletic Conference Championship teams in both football (1936) and basketball (1953-36). A member of Don Drumm’s all-time great basketball team, Magee earned All-Ohio Conference honors in basketball as well as football. He also served as captain for the Pioneer basketball team during his senior campaign in 1937-38.
Magee served from 1943-45 with a PT boat squadron in the Pacific area where he was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve. After serving in the Pacific he went on the win many awards for his work in the newspaper industry. He worked for the Parkersburg Sentinel and the Associated Press as well as the Ohio State Journal, now known as the Columbus Dispatch.
Magee is survived by his wife, Katherine Bogard Magee, a 1939 graduate of Marietta College, and his three children, Bill, Pat and Tim Magee.
