Carl "Curt" Walker, '26 who died in 1983, won 12 Marietta letters in football, basketball, baseball and track, then went on to a long and distinguished career in public education.

He was described by Hall-of-Famer Dud Harris as "one of the best footballs ends MC ever had, the floor general of three good basketball teams (1923-26), an excellent outfielder and hitter, and a fine all-around performer in track and field."
Curt captained the 1924-25 cagers, was student body president and president of his fraternity, and was veep of the first organization of 'M" winners. He played two summers of pro baseball in the American Association.

After teaching and coaching four years at St. Mary's (W.Va.) H.S., Curt was for 30 years principal of Wellsburg (W.Va.) H.S. He was a founder of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference and president (1948-53) of the West Virginia High School Athletic Association.

He served his community and church in many endeavors and was posthumously recognized by the Upper Valley Dapper Dan Club with its prestigious R.S. Mckelvey Memorial Award.
