Hayes, a four-year letterman in baseball, graduated from MC in 1951. During his sophomore year, he set one of the most coveted records in the Ohio Athletic Conference and Marietta College baseball communities when he hit .545 for the season. That single season record still stands at MC and in the conference. Hayes, MC’s captain in ’51, is one of the outfielders on Don Drumm’s all-time greatest baseball team.
Since leaving MC, Brock has held several managerial positions. He was the Regional Manager for Texas Instruments Corporation. Now retired, he splits his time between Marblehead, MA and Sarasota, FL.
Hayes has two daughters, Jackie Hayes and Judith Hayes Novelly.
