Jeanne Arbuckle Field
Following the completion of a total renovation in the fall of 2025, the home of Marietta College Softball was renamed Jeanne Arbuckle Field. The official dedication was held on April 18, 2026. Arbuckle retired following the 2018 season after 31 years as the Pioneers' head coach. She amassed more thaan 570 wins and was inducted into the Marietta College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.
Located on the south end of campus and originally constructed in 2005 as a natural grass field, the current FieldTurf TripleThreat playing surface is designed specifically for softball. The field dimensions are 200-feet down the lines and 210-feet to centerfield. In addition to the playing surface, the first phase of a three-phase project included expanded bullpens, new fencing and backstop, and upgraded branding throughout the facility.
The transformation of the softball complex has been made possible largely through an extraordinary lead investment from Trustee Joe Chlapaty H’10, P’97 and his wife, Linda, whose collective commitment of more than $1.5 million spans all three phases of the project.
The second phase of the project includes the installation of a new Daktronics scoreboard, which was completed prior to the 2026 season, along with a Musco LED lighting system that will be installed in the summer of 2026. The final part of the overall project includes raised spectator seating that will run from dugout to dugout and a press box that will be completed in the fall ahead of the 2027 season.
Jeanne Arbuckle Field replaces Marietta Field that returned the Pioneers to campus in the fall of 2005 after spending several years playing at Hadley Field at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Prior to 1999, the softball team called Timblin Field home until construction of the McCoy Residence Hall took over that space. A two-tunnel batting range was added in 2018.
