Sean Kaighin begins his fourth season as head women's soccer coach at Marietta College in 2022. He is the ninth head coach in program history.
Kaighin joined the Marietta College staff as assistant women’s soccer coach just prior to the start of the 2018 season. He served as interim head coach for three months overseeing recruiting and strength and conditioning training before being named as head coach in February of 2019. Kaighin was presented with the Marietta College Staff Award for Mentoring at the College’s Founders Day Celebration.
Prior to Marietta, Kaighin served as an assistant women’s coach at Lourdes University in the spring of 2018. He was Director of Coaching for the boys and girls youth teams at Pacesetter Soccer for three years. Kaighin was responsible for 18 youth teams and the skill development of over 500 athletes.
Kaighin has extensive high school coaching experience as well. He served as assistant varsity and head junior varsity boys coach at Clay High School from 2006-08. Kaighin returned to Clay as the head boys varsity coach in 2014-15.
In 2017 Kaighin was an assistant boys varsity coach at Ottawa Hills High School and helped lead the boys team to a 20-1-2 record. The Green Bears won the TAAC league championship and finished as Ohio Division III runners-up.
A native of Oregon, Ohio, Kaighin played collegiately at Owens Community College where he earned NJCAA Superior Academic All-American honors. He received an Associate’s Degree in in Adolescent Education in 2013. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration on Youth from the University of Toledo in 2015.
Kaighin holds numerous coaching accreditations including a United Soccer Coaches Level 1 Goalkeeping Diploma and Advanced National Diploma.
