Russ Garrett begins his second year at Marietta College as assistant men's rowing coach in 2018-19.

Garrett came to Marietta after serving as the assistant girl’s coach at his alma mater Mainland Regional High School in Linwood, New Jersey. He was responsible for coaching the Mustang lightweight and junior varsity rowers.

Prior to returning to Mainland, Garrett spent two seasons as the men’s freshmen lightweight coach at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. His crews claimed four Dad Vail medals including the 2016 men’s freshmen lightweight 8+ gold and silver medals and a pair of 2015 silvers in the men’s freshmen heavyweight 8+ and lightweight 8+ divisions.

Garrett rowed collegiate at Delaware and spent three seasons in the varsity lightweight 8+ shell. The Blue Hens captured Dad Vail gold in 2013 and silver in 2012 and 2014. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Oarsman in his junior and senior years.

Garrett received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Delaware in 2016. The Dean’s List graduate holds a New Jersey Health and Physical Education teaching certificate.

A native of New Jersey, Garrett was a four-year oarsman at Mainland Regional High School. He helped the Mustangs earn silver medals in the Garden State Championships, Mid-Atlantic Championships and Atlantic County Championships. Garrett also qualified for the 2010 USRowing Youth National Regatta.
