Sophomore Jim Kovatch (Lancaster, Ohio/Fairfield Union) had the highlight of the OAC South Split meet when he broke his own school record in the pole vault. After passing on the first 10 heights, Kovatch cleared 4.15 meters, 4.45 m and 4.65 m on his first attempt at each height. He then cleared 4.80 m on his second attempt before bowing out at 4.90 m. His height of 4.80 meters (15’9”) broke his own Marietta College record of 4.76 m (15’7.25”). Kovatch’s winning height is the seventh best in the nation this winter.
