Sophomore Isabella Hildebrandt (Lakewood/Rocky River) stroked the varsity 8+ shell that defeated Purdue for the first time in the 18-year history of the women’s edition of the Marietta-Purdue Challenge Cup. The Pioneers edged the Boilermakers at the finish line crossing in 6:07.18, while Purdue posted a time of 6:08.06. Marietta’s complete varsity 8+ lineup included coxswain Hannah Platt (Potomac, Md./Walt Whitman), Hildebrandt, Eileen Walsh (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace), Katie Williams (Mars, Pa./Mars), Ricci Davis (Marietta/Marietta), Katherine Tedesco (Upper Arlington/Upper Arlington), Anja Curwen (Carlisle, Pa./St. Bouaventure), Katie Transue (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) and Erika Gill (Copley/Copley) in the bow.
