Sophomore Jason Byers (East Granby, Conn./East Granby) was named the first Ohio Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of Week for the 2014 season after tossing a complete game shutout in the Pioneers’ 5-0 season opening win over Denison University. He pitched 9.0 innings and allowed just four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Byers dominated the Big Red hitters and didn’t allow a single base runner to reach third base and only one made it as far as second base. The shutout was the third of Byers’ career.
