Lady Pioneers have not appeared in poll since 2006

April 17, 2008
MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's rowing program climbed into the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing spotlight for the first time this season, as the fourth regular season Varsity 8+ poll was announced on Wednesday (April 16) afternoon.

The Pioneers received votes for the first time since midway through 2006 when they climb as high as No. 15 in the poll. While Marietta remains outside the top 15, it picked up eight votes, which ranks them 22nd out of the 43 schools who participate in NCAA Division III rowing. The Pioneers were also ranked No. 14 at one point during the 2005 season.

First-year Head Coach Kelly Harris and her shell recently took fifth place at the Knecht Cup on April 13. The Varsity 8 features senior bow Meg Foraker (New Lexington/Culver Academy), senior Amee Epling (Parkersburg, W.Va.), freshman Lauren Yanko (Akron/Archbishop Hoban), sophomore Caitlin Piotrowski (Dublin/Dublin Jerome), freshman Katherine Thomas (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel Area), junior Krista Tkacz (Egg Harbor Twp, N.J.), senior Amanda Chuderewicz (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler), junior stroke Anjouli Dapice (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) and sophomore coxswain Lauren Talasnik (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest).

Marietta will return to action on when its travels down to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championship. Racing begins on Saturday (April 19) and concludes on Sunday (April 20).
