Marietta women compete at the Head Of The Charles
Varsity Eight takes 48th in the Collegiate Eight

Oct. 22, 2006
BOSTON, Mass. — The Marietta College women's rowing team sent its Varsity Eight to compete at the 42nd annual Head Of The Charles Regatta Sunday (Oct. 22) afternoon. The Pioneers held their own against some of the nation's top collegiate crews in the Collegiate Eight race, placing 48th overall.

Marietta's shell, which featured stroke Dee Dee Wilkey (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy), Sotiria Anagnostou (Mishauvaka, Ind./Culver Academy), Deb Dreyer (Middleburg Heights/Midpark), Caitlin Piotrowski (Dublin/Dublin Jerome), Lyndsay Offenberger (Marietta), Jessica Peatee (Toledo/Central Catholic), Meg Foraker (New Lexington/Culver Academy), bow Anjouli Dapice (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) and coxswain Katt Mackin (Dublin/Dublin Coffman), completed the three-mile course in a time of 19:12.482.

Yale University took first place in the event, finishing in 17:05.343. Williams College was the top Division III boat in the field, taking eighth place with a time of 17:44.083.

While the placement was a little disappointing for the Pioneer Navy, the team hopes to be able to use the experience gained from racing at the world's largest two-day rowing event as it continues to develop its young talent.

Marietta will close out its fall season on Saturday (Oct. 28) when it competes at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa.
