Pagenhardt named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America
Third team selection only OAC representative on squad

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2007-08 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women’s Basketball Teams Tuesday (June 26) afternoon, and Marietta College senior standout Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) earned third team honors.
Pagenhardt wrapped up her career on the women’s basketball team with another impressive season. The guard led the team and finished second in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) in scoring, averaging 17.0 points. She also contributed 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists ad 0.8 steals per game in 2007-08. Pagenhardt finished her career fourth all-time in scoring with 1,454 points and as the career leader in three-point field goal attempts with 380.
The four-year letterwinner, the lone OAC representative on either the men or women’s teams, is awaiting word on both All-OAC and Academic All-OAC honors this winter. She entered the season as a two-time award winner in both categories, receiving honorable mention All-OAC in 2004-05 and second team All-OAC in 2005-06 as well as Academic All-OAC as both a sophomore and junior.
The biology major entered her final semester at Marietta with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average. In addition to playing two years of tennis, Pagenhardt is also the secretary for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She plans to attend medical school to pursue her goal of becoming a physician.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
