MC holds women's basketball camp

MARIETTA, Ohio - Marietta College Head Coach Vicki Giffin is eagerly engaging in her first-ever basketball camp at MC this week.

Twenty-nine young athletes in grades 4-9 are enrolled in the individual camp that continues inside the Ban Johnson Arena through Thursday evening. Fenton Court is buzzing with energy, as campers put in a full day— 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.— throughout the week.

“I think the campers will have four days of fun,” said Giffin. “They are learning key fundamentals and techniques from our coaches and players.”

In addition to the individual camp, Giffin recently wrapped up a 16-team shootout this past Saturday, July 16. Local schools, as well as teams from West Virginia, competed in this one-day event. Fort Frye claimed this year’s championship.

“Saturday was a great day of basketball,” said Giffin. “It showcased some good local talent.”
