Marietta's Tokodi named OAC Player of the Week

Jan. 24, 2005
MARIETTA, Ohio - The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced Marietta College's Rebecca Tokodi (Marietta/Parkersburg Catholic, WV) as the women's basketball Player of the Week today (Jan. 24) for the week of Jan. 16-23.

Tokodi, a senior center, averaged 18.5 points 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots in two Pioneer wins last week. Tokodi scored a career-high 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds against John Carroll for her first double-double of her career. Tokodi was 15-of-27 (.556) from the field in two games.

The Marietta native, who transferred to Marietta College before last season, has played an integral role in the recent success of the Lady Pioneers, which has included a 4-2 record since the start of Jan. 2005. She has averaged 16.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and is shooting 41-of-72 (.569) over that period. Tokodi is the first Pioneer to earn this honor since Lish Yoder in December of 2003.

Tokodi and the Pioneers will look for their third straight win tonight (Jan. 24), when it takes on host Oberlin in non conference action at 6 p.m.
