Marietta tames the Bethany Bison in four games to snap three-match losing streak

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Lady Pioneers came out strong, persevered through a tough second game and then regrouped to defeat visiting Bethany (WV) in four games (30-18, 22-30, 31-29, 30-19) Tuesday (Sept. 13) on Fenton Court in Ban Johnson Arena. With the win, Marietta improves to 3-4 overall, while Bethany falls to 5-4.

The victory improved the Pioneers record to 3-2 at home and snapped a three-match losing streak.

Junior Jaymi Stephens (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) led the Pioneers with 15 kills to go along with 15 digs.

Freshman Heather Faehnle (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) finished with 36 assists while adding nine kills, four aces and nine digs.

Sophomore Casey Davis (Amanda/Clearcreek) collected a team-best 16 digs, while freshman Caity Shirk (Middleburg Heights/Midpark) had a team-high four blocks in the win.

Marietta will return to action Friday (Sept. 16) when it travels to Granville to take on the Denison Big Red at 7 p.m. The Pioneers will remain on the road Saturday (Sept. 17) to take part in the Otterbein Triangular. MC will battle Anderson (IN) at 12 p.m. and then take on host Otterbein in a non conference match up at 4 p.m.
