Marietta women ranked No. 24 in first 2008 USTFCCCA Division III Coaches Power Rankings
Five Ohio Athletic Conference schools make Top 25

Feb. 12, 2008
NEW ORLEANS, La. — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) released its first NCAA Division III Coaches Power Rankings on Feb. 6, and Head Coach Derek Stanley's Marietta College women’s team was voted No. 24 in the poll, which ranks the top 25 schools in the nation.

It is the first time that either the men’s or the women’s program at Marietta has been recognized by the national association.

Tufts University, located in Medford, Mass., sat atop the poll, while Illinois Wesleyan University was second and North Central (Iowa) College was third. Four other Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) institutions made the list; No. 12 Baldwin-Wallace College, No. 13 Capital University, No. 15 Ohio Northern University and No. 25 Heidelberg College made the top 25.

Marietta’s women recently took sixth place at the OAC Relays, which were hosted by Ohio Northern. The Polar Bears will also host this spring's NCAA Division III National Championships, which will take place March 14-15 at the ONU Sports Center.

The Pioneers are back in action Friday (Feb. 14) when they help kickoff Winter Weekend with a home Alumni Open Meet at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. Action begins at 4 p.m.
