33 Pioneers slated
to compete at OAC Outdoor Championships
Marietta looking to move up OAC standings

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College track & field team
is gearing up for this weekend's Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC)
Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace
College. Action begins Friday (May 11) and will conclude Saturday
(May 12). Head Coach Derek Stanley is optomistic
that both the men and women will improve upon last year's finishes.
A year ago, the Pioneer men finished in eighth place with 44 points,
while the Pioneer women placed seventh with 44.5 points.
33 student-athletes, 15 men and 18 women, are expected to be traveling
to Berea to represent the school at the meet. Overall, a Pioneer
will be competing in 35 of the possible 42 events.
Junior Dan DeZordo (Louisville/Marlington) and
sSophomores Jessi Larrison (Batavia) and Tiffany
Kovacevich (Strongsville) will each be looking to earn
back-to-back All-OAC honors. DeZordo finished second in the Discus,
Larrison won the 800m Run and Kovacevich took third in the Shot
Put a year ago. In addition, senior Rachel Forman (Heath)
won the Hammer Throw, which is an exhibition event, at last year's
OAC Championships.
